Course syllabus
Welcome to the online course about sustainable energy systems!
This 7.5 credit course is given in English and runs on half-time (50%) between 2nd of November to 17th of January 2020. It is taught fully online with webinars each week, live or recorded lectures, plus readings, assignments, and project group work.
The course aims to develop the student's knowledge and understanding of current energy systems, their sustainability consequences, and how they can be transformed strategically to sustainability . The course starts with an overview on how energy systems relate to strategic sustainable development (module 1). This is followed by more in-depth studies on energy supply and energy use in various sectors of society (module 2). The course ends with planning for economically, ecologically and socially sustainable development of energy systems (module 3). Read more about learning outcomes in the course syllabus. Who should attend?
The new knowledge about sustainable energy systems provided by this course is meant to guide organizations, regions/countries or private persons regarding how to choose sustainable sources for energy and how to use energy in an efficient way that at the same time provides a return on investment. The layout is designed to provide a high degree of flexibility to fit well with parallel studies or professional life.
Costs?
Free of charge for EU/EES citizens, and 12.500 SEK for non- EU/EES citizens,
Teachers?
Associate Professor Henrik Ny is the course responsible and have a long experience of teaching international university students and manage sustainability-related courses. Henrik is also leading the SustainTrans research team @ BTH that strives to enable a fast transition towards full sustainability with a focus on energy and transport system. | |
PhD Sven Borén is the examiner and a teacher in the course. He has several years of experience of teaching university students and management of sustainability-related courses, and is focusing on electro-mobility and shipping issues in the SustainTrans research team @ BTH. |
