This lecture contains information about flow-based energy, and in particular solar and wind power. The last part is about how to balance an electric grid based on renewable energy sources and in particular about energy storage technologies.

The lecture corresponds to chapter 3 (Solar Thermal Energy), 4 (Solar PV), 8 (Wind energy), and 11 (Integrating renewable energy), which should be read in parallell, but it would also be good to read chapter 6 (Hydro-electricity) in the course book. The technical parts are more of an orientation in these chapters and not so important to meet the learning outcomes in this course, nor figures and graphs. The costs, environmental impacts, and future prospects are though highly relevant for this course, but we would like your knowledge to be on a conceptual level rather than on details.
